Official word from the Sullivan Police Department is that an eight-year-old Sullivan boy is going to recover after his bike struck a motor vehicle on West Main and North Clark,
The official statement from the Sullivan Police Department is:
“Wednesday, September 16, at 2:34 p.m., the Sullivan Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of Main and Clark Streets. Upon arrival, officers received the following information from the accident:
A bicycle, operated by Noah Gassener, 8, was traveling West bound on the side walk at the intersection of Main and Clark Streets. As Gassener was crossing the crosswalk at Main St. he struck a 2002 Dodge Dakota, which was driven by Taryn Merritt, 17. Ms. Merritt was traveling westbound on Main St. when the vehicle accident occurred.
Evidence at the scene indicated Gassener failed to look both way’s for oncoming traffic before crossing the street.
Gassener was transported from the scene by Missouri Baptist Ambulance to Missouri Baptist Hospital. Merritt received no injuries.
