The attendance at the annual Open House is indicative of the high level of parent involvement that has become synonymous with the school. The many guests met in the gymnasium where introductions were made and the various projects that were completed over the summer were announced.
For example, the PTO had provided funding to renovate two restrooms and to improve the cafeteria with the provision of two new lunch tables. Of course, the funding is a direct result of the support given by the community to the PTO’s various fundraising efforts, particularly the annual Dinner/Dance/Auction.

Dr. Boeh extended the district’s appreciation to the volunteers who had generously provided their time and expertise over the summer in preparation for the school year. Among those mentioned were Dennis Hulsey, Krystal Hulsey, Tom Hulsey, Mark Thurmond, Scott Cassidy, Jerry Slaby, Cavada Wells, Jacob Wells, and John Lechten. Hand-outs from the Title I Parent Library were available. Signup sheets relating to the athletic program, music electives, and parent volunteers were present.
After touring the building, the group reconvened for the awarding of door prizes and to listen to announcements. Door prizes included sets of school supplies that had been kindly donated by the Bank of Sullivan.
Special attention was given to the daily before-school tutoring sessions. With a commitment to excellence in education, everyone is encouraged to take advantage of the opportunities available within the district.
Judging from the positive comments heard during the social portion of the event which included punch and cookies, this commitment remains a strong component of all those associated with the district.
