SOUTH COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION will hold their grand opening celebrations the week of Sept. 14-18. The local company recently opened their new facility at 280 South Service Rd. West.

South Community Credit Union, Sullivan, will celebrate their grand opening at the new facility located in the South Community Plaza at 280 South Service Rd. West. The credit union was located previously on North Clark St.
According to Michelle Volkmann, Business Development specialist, South Community Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution ran by a volunteer board of directors. Customers of the credit union are considered members of the credit union; once they open a $25 savings account, they become a member of the member-owned credit union.
South Community is celebrating two milestones this year; along with locating to a new facility, they are also celebrating 75 years of business. The business was founded in 1934 and in 1988 two credit unions merged, St. George Parish, South St. Louis, and Ramsey Credit Union, Sullivan.
Local resident and owner of Brueseke Tax Preparation, which is also located in the South Community Credit Union’s new facility, Dean Brueseke has been president of the credit union since 1988.
South Community will celebrate their grand opening at their new location the entire week of Sept. 14-18, with a Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting on Sept. 14 and daily cash giveaways of $100. Coloring contests and other free prizes are being held throughout the week along with special CD rates.
“We are extremely thrilled with the new facility,” said Volkmann. “We love the increased space and our customers are extremely happy with the new ATM, drive-thru, and other features of the facility.”
South Community Credit Union is a full-service financial institution and is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday.
The business also offers a St. Louis location which is located at 8814 Gravois in South St. Louis.
