Mrs. Deborah Schroeder, new music teacher at Strain-Japan School.

Strain-Japan R-16 is pleased to welcome a new music teacher, Mrs. Deborah Schroeder, to our faculty. Mrs. Schroeder taught for 20 years in Michigan, Illinois, and Missouri, after a childhood in Pennsylvania. She has taught every grade, every subject for Grades 1-8, including the music programs at each school where she has been employed. She loves singing, writing music, and playing instruments such as the piano, organ, guitar, and mountain dulcimer.
Mrs. Schroeder performs with “Idabel and Her Old Tyme String Band,” is the choir director and organist at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Drake, and serves as the music teacher at Immanuel Lutheran in Rosebud.
Having met many of the district’s parents and having taught for the past several days in the school’s music department, she has been quick to voice how thrilled she is to be with us this year.
In order to expand on the instructional and curricular resources available to students participating in the band program, Mrs. Schroeder is requesting that anyone who can possibly donate used brass or woodwind instruments to please do so.
We are looking forward to having the number of band students increase, so that our Winter Concert that has been scheduled for December will be even more memorable.
