A quarter cent tax increase that would have boosted revenue for Crawford County 911 was rejected by county voters on Tuesday.
The final tally was 343-231.
Sixty percent of voters on election day could not be convinced that it was a worthy tax increase; but with only a little over three percent of the registered voters in the county going to the ballot, it appears that the measure was not deemed important enough.
Emergency personnel throughout the county were on board with the tax increase. E911 director, Charles Witt, said back in June that the money would improve many facets of 911 and maintain a better operating staff that does not become overworked and under trained.
