A Sullivan man has been charged by the Missouri Highway Patrol with felony second degree assault, driving while intoxicated, failure to drive on the right half of the roadway and no driver’s license following a head-on accident on Highway D, five miles south of Sullivan, at 5:45 p.m.Monday evening.
According to the Missouri Highway Patrol the accident occurred when Nicholas Watson, 21, Sullivan, operating a southbound 2000 Pontiac Bonneville, when he crossed the centerline of the roadway and struck a northbound 2000 Lincoln, driven by Kevin Ijames, 47, Bourbon.
Injured in the accident was Watson, with minor injuries and passengers Jarad Courtney, 21, Sullivan, moderate injuries; Amber L. Hammack, 18, Sullivan, minor injuries; Nancy Hodges, 19, Sullivan, moderate injuries; Brandon Pilkenton, 23, Sullivan, minor injuries; and Daniell Braght, 20, Sullivan, minor injuries.
Watson was arrested at the scene and transported to the Crawford County Jail.
Both vehicles received extensive damages.
