The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81 of Bourbon met at the Community Center on July 28. Plans were made for the annual August installation dinner to be held on the 25th. We hope to have reports from the girls who attended the Girls State program this year. They and their families will be special guests.
Members were reminded that dues are now due for the 2009-2010 year. We hope to have all renewals completed by Sept. 1.
The Auxiliary sponsored Bloodmobile Drive in July was not as successful as usual as several were not able to give, and there was a problem with the computers, but the Red Cross hopes to have all of the glitches worked out before their next visit. The drive has been held at the First United Methodist Church for several years, and the Auxiliary appreciates the church for the use of their facilities for this worthwhile cause.
The group is also planning a float for the Bourbon Booster Festival parade in September. Members are invited to help with the float and may ride on it, also.
Tickets have been going well for the beautiful patriotic quilt raffle. The winner’s name will be drawn at the Fall Festival. The quilt was made by Unit president Eunice Ditterline and Cathy Protte.
All members are encouraged to attend the August installation meeting and dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Bourbon Community Center.
