11 Sentenced In Federal Methamphetamine Case

Two Sullivan residents were among 11 people sentenced in Federal Court following their convictions for being involved in a methamphetamine ring that saw the criminals purchase thousands of pills containing pseudoephedrine from December 2007 through December 2008.
U.S. Eastern District Acting Attorney Michael W. Reap announced on Aug. 11 that Steven Corio, 44, St. Clair, was sentenced to 60 months in prison and Joette Payne, 53, Sullivan, was sentenced to three years probation. Both appeared in U.S. District Court on Tuesday for sentencing.
Nine other criminals were sentenced recently including: Danielle DeClue, 21, St. Louis, 50 months in prison; William Johnson, 35, St. Clair, 60 months in prison; Tina Johnson, 36, St. Clair, three years probation; Franklin Whited, 43, St. Clair, 188 months in prison; Rebecca Whited, 42, St. Clair, 37 months in prison; David Payne, 51, Sullivan, 84 months in prison; Jeffrey Kerbler, 19, St. Clair, 37 months in prison; Heather Maxwell, 30, Owensville, 42 months in prison; and Johnathan Maxwell, 23, St. Clair, 22 months in prison.
Reap commended the work in this case by the Franklin County Narcotics Enforcement Unit, St. Louis City and County Police, and Assistant United States Attorney Jeanette Graviss, who handled the case for the federal government.
