Sullivan police are encouraging residents to lock their vehicles, keep all valuables in their possession and be vigilant to suspicious activity following a rash of vehicle break-ins this past week.
Through Friday, the department had investigated more than five vehicle break-ins in which suspects appropriated cigarettes, money, checks, credit cards, cell phones and knives.
On Tues., July 1, the department received four reports of vehicles being broken into, including: Walnut St., three knives stolen; Mansion St., several personal items stolen; Second St., face plate from a car stereo; 300 Ramsey St., six vehicles broken into with cigarettes, cash and three cell phones stolen; Hughes Ford Rd./Beeman St., checks and credit cards stolen from a vehicle.
Sullivan police asks that anyone with information on possible suspects breaking into vehicles or anyone who observes suspicious activity to contact the department detective division at 573-468-8001.
