Dr. Shannon L. Fogg, assistant professor of history and political science at Missouri University of Science and Technology, recently received the 2009 Missouri Conference on History Book Award. The award is given to the best book on any historical topic written by a Missouri resident published in 2008. Fogg received the award for her book, “The Politics of Everyday Life in Vichy France: Foreigners, Undesirables, and Strangers.”
Fogg earned her Ph.D. from the University of Iowa and began her career at Missouri S&T in 2004, where she received an Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006. She is currently in Paris studying France’s archives as part of a grant to research anti-Semitism in rural areas of Britain and France before and during World War II.
This is the second year an S&T historian has won the award. Last year Dr. John C. McManus, associate professor of history and political science, won for his book, “Alamo in the Ardennes: The Untold Story of the American Soldiers Who Made the Defense of Bastogne Possible.”
