Sullivan Elementary summer school classes went to Maramec Springs in St. James on Fri., June 12. Each group had a tour of the Agriculture Museum. Students were amazed to see items from days past. One very interesting exhibit was called “Grandma’s Kitchen.”
Another rotation was the Maramec Museum that displayed miniature scenes from the St. James area where iron ore was mined and melted in a huge furnace. That outside furnace still stands today.
Two of the best activities were the touring of the spring and the feeding of the trout. Pictured are a group of students at the spring and another of several students feeding the fish.
We had a wonderful day enjoying our picnic lunches and spending a beautiful day of learning and adventure at Maramec Springs.
