St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Gerald is celebrating 150 years of church history. The “United Church of Christ” began as the German Evangelical denomination.
In 1957, it joined the Reformed Church and the Congregational Church to become “The United Church of Christ,” a church that welcomes all to grow in Christ.
Plans are underway for celebrations on June 7 and 14. On June 7, the Reverend Jeffrey Whitman, Conference minister, will preach and preside at Holy Communion. Former pastors will be in attendance.
June 14 is “Homecoming Sunday,” including special music by the gospel group, “Renewed.”The noon meal will be a feature each Sunday.
The Reverend Dale Starr and congregation welcome all to come and share memories, music, fellowship and food. Sunday dchool is at 9:30 a.m. and the church service is at 11 a.m. The church is located at Fifth and Main in Gerald.
