Mayor Leonard Armstrong reported at the city council meeting on May 19 that the vandalism issue at the city park is getting better.
Armstrong was questioned about it and he stated that an arrest has been made and that others are doing community service. He also said that the bathrooms are being locked at night by the police department.
Other city park issues:
Steve Pasch addressed the board about a citation from the Land and Water Conservation Fund regarding the city’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilites Act concerning the city park. The park needs to make more handicap parking available and also needs to make paths to the playground equipment. Pasch has been in contact with Jodi Prengel about the progress being made at the park. Prengel told Pasch that she would like to have all the city’s compliance information in a packet at one time.
Pasch also asked attorney Bob Davis about the park board’s concern that signs should be placed on the new backstop warning that children should not climb on it. Davis stated that signs will not preclude a personal injury law suit, but could help in the defense of it.
Davis recommended that signs be put up.
