Sullivan is the home of one of the newest local businesses to begin operations despite the weak economy.
An 18-year veteran of the scale business, John Thexton, has moved from Northern Wisconsin back home to Sullivan to open Mid Missouri Scale Company.
“You know I started this business here in Sullivan for a lot of reasons but, honestly, I wanted to move back home and felt Sullivan would be a good location for my business,” said Thexton on Thursday prior to his Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting ceremony. “I’ve been in this business for 18 years and I’m licensed to travel anywhere in the United States. I feel like, once people realize we’re here, business will increase.”
Thexton operates Mid Missouri Scale as a full-service scale company providing repair and calibration services as well as a full line of new and used weighing equipment. They also provide rental scales for companies needing to conduct physical inventories or during busy periods.
“We’re excited to bring this business to Sullivan and I’m glad to be back home in Sullivan,” concluded Thexton, who is also a graduate of Sullivan High School.
