Five people received minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident involving a church minibus on Wednesday evening at 6:48 p.m.
Sullivan Police and Fire Departments were called to 951 Elmont Rd. for a van that had struck a church bus with nine people on board.
Authorities arrived on the scene and determined that a 1994 Chevrolet minibus, operated eastbound by Jeremy Dace, 31, Sullivan, was stopped to make a left-hand turn and was struck by an eastbound 1999 Dodge Caravan operated by Stephanie Foutch, 17, Sullivan.
Two people in the Foutch vehicle and three people in the First Assembly of God Church bus received injuries and were transported to Missouri Baptist Hospital, Sullivan, for treatment by Missouri Baptist Ambulance and North Crawford County Ambulance.
“All occupants were removed from the vehicle prior to our arrival on the scene,” said Sullivan Fire Chief Rich White. “The injured victims all appeared to have minor injuries and were transported to Missouri Baptist for observation.”
Elmont Rd. was closed in both directions at the church entrance for more than 45 minutes while crews treated the injured victims and cleared the accident scene
