Children from the Head Start Center enjoyed an early spring day when temperatures rose to balmy levels. The children learn the importance of an outdoor activity, healthy eating habits and the benefits of exercise.
Playtime provides many opportunities for incidental learning, such as sharing and using their large muscles for climbing and running.
Applications for enrollment in the Head Start program, sponsored by Jefferson-Franklin Community Action Corporation, are being accepted for three-to-five year old low-income children.
The first selection of children for the fall will be completed on May 15. It is not too late to make an application for the Head Start in your area. The programs and meals in Head Start are free. Children with special needs are also eligible for Head Start.
Call the Head Start office in Gray Summit at 636-742-4660, ext. 104, for more information. Parents may also do the applications by phone.
