Bourbon Election Wrap-Up

The City of Bourbon will have a new alderman in office and the Bourbon School Board will also see a new member.
The Tues., Apr. 7 election saw many strong races including the City of Bourbon aldermanic race for Ward One. Incumbent Jared Boast was defeated by former alderman, Robert Gargus. Gargus received 47 votes to Boast’s 39.
In the Bourbon School District, the Board of Education saw district taxpayers vote overwhelmingly for a “no tax increase” bond issue. The issue was approved, 272 yes to 130 no.
In the race for school board, newcomer Michelle Volkmann captured the most votes with 251 to Darrel Bosse, 229, and David Kline, 180. Volkmann and Bosse will each serve three-year terms on the board.
Crawford County voters approved the county commission extending its road tax by a vote of 1,148 to 727.
The Crawford County 911 Board saw Loren Wilson capture the open board seat with 1,148 votes to Michael Smart’s 612.
The District Two 911 Board seat was won by Robert Hutson with 1,133 votes to Robert Mesger’s 664.
