The Trendy Closet, 324 North Clark St., is under new ownership and changing direction in the local clothes business.
Christine Thoms recently purchased the business and is bringing a world of excitement to the clothing store.
“It’s been my dream for some time to own a resale clothing shop, and now I do,” said Thoms. “My daughter is grown and 22 years old, so she is serving as my fashion consultant. I feel this store is an absolute perfect fit for me.”
Thoms signed a contract to purchase the business in early February and took over ownership on Mon., Mar. 2.
“We deal strictly in name brand clothing that is in like-new condition, all the mall name brands and we not only carry children and women’s clothing but boys and men’s clothing also,” said Thoms. “Another addition to the store is the women’s plus-size clothing, which we feel is a good nitch for us also. We have sizes from 0 to 30-32 for women.”
The store carries a number of products on consignment and always welcomes these items to the store. They are also carrying formals, including bridesmaid dresses.
“Business has been very good and we’ve changed the entire design in the store,” said Thoms. “People will notice that all our clothing lines are on racks in the store.”
Thoms stated that they have new products just about every day and clothing lines from mall stores include Hollister, American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch, just to name a few.
The business is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
