The Norman J. Stupp Foundation is generously supporting Changing Prisms, a program of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri that gives an overlooked population of troubled young women the chance to interact with successful adult women who are typically inaccessible to them.
A generous gift of $20,000 from the Norman J. Stupp Foundation will be used to help implement the Changing Prisms program in 2009.
Changing Prisms is a unique annual workshop and treatment program that focuses specifically on the needs of young women, between the ages of 12 and 18, most of whom have experienced abuse, neglect and trauma and are extremely vulnerable.
Changing Prisms helps these young women deal with their feelings of inadequacy, insecurity, depression and anxiety through activities and workshops designed to help improve their confidence and self-esteem.
Successful women from throughout Missouri participate and share the experiences they have had in overcoming similar challenges that the girls are facing.
Changing Prisms will bring young women from across the state together for a two-day workshop in June on the St. James campus of Boys & Girls Town of Missouri.
