Members of the Crawford County Memorial American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81 met Tuesday evening, Feb. 24, at the Bourbon Community Center. President Eunice Ditterline opened the meeting and welcomed all the members who attended.
Plans were made to the annual Legion Birthday Dinner to be held on Mar. 31 at 6:30 p.m. at the Community Center. All members of the Legion Post 81 and Auxiliary Unit 81 are urged to come out and enjoy an evening of fellowship together.
Carolyn Isgriggs, vice president, reported that the January bloodmobile visit had been successful and that the next visit from the Red Cross would be on Mar. 16 from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. The ladies are very thankful that the First Methodist Church always makes their basement available for the blood drives.
A moment of silence was held in memory of three long-time members who had recently passed away—Virginia Keeney, Geraldine Reiner and Helen Hill.  These ladies were always active when they were able and will be greatly missed.
An important part of the evening was the reading of the applications from the Bourbon High junior girls who wanted to be delegates at this summer’s Girl State session. Two girls were selected as delegates, and one as alternate.
The members will work with the other girls to try to raise funds to send others.  Carolyn will be working with Michelle Ray, school counselor, to try to come up with fundraising ideas.
Greeting cards of encouragement were sent to local members, Adabelle and Thelma Baldwin and Dorothy Nilges, who have not been able to attend meetings for quite sometime.
There are still seven members with dues outstanding, and we hope to collect them soon in order to meet our goal for the year.
