David M. Johnson of Sullivan, MO passed away at his home on Sunday, Marc1, 2009 at the age of 62 years.
Mr. Johnson was born on October 26, 1946 in Washington, MO to John David and Dorothy (Wilson) Johnson. He was raised in the Stanton, MO area and worked in various jobs which included the Post Office at St. Clair, MO and the assessor’s office in Union. On June 6, 1970, he was united in marriage to Mary Narup in Union, MO.
He later became employed at the former Zero Manufacturing Company in Washington as a time study analyst until a disability caused his early retirement.
David honorably served his country during the Vietnam War with the U.S. Marine Corps. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal and was decorated with a Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
David found pleasure in fishing and hunting, gardening and recently became involved in the family genealogy. He was a member of the American Legion of Union and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, of the family home; one son, David I. Johnson and wife, Amy, of Sullivan, MO; one daughter, Diane Terry and husband, Tony, of Bourbon; MO; his mother, Dorothy Hawkins of St. Clair, MO; one brother, Robert Johnson and wife, Brenda, of Sullivan, MO; two sisters, Peggy Schmidt and husband, Doug, of Sullivan, MO and Debra Hawkins and husband, Bill, of Beaufort, MO; five grandchildren, Tony Terry, Jr., Austin Terry, Derek Johnson, Abby Terry and Grace Johnson; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends.
Along with his father, David was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Elmer and Mabel Narup.
Visitation for Mr. David Johnson was held from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Harry Pryor officiating. Cremation followed the services.
