The Booster Club meeting was held on Tues., Mar. 3 in the Community Center at 7 p.m. To start off the meeting, minutes from Feb. 3 were read by Alice Bremer. The January and February financial reports were then read by Carol Hofstetter.
The Membership Drive will continue on. If you have not made your membership payment, you may stop by Bremer’s Hardware and give to Alice Bremer or payment can also be mailed to P.O. Box 66, Bourbon.
On Mon., Mar. 30, there will be a “Meet the Candidates” event held at the Community Center starting at 7 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to come and meet those who are running for Board of Aldermen as well as the School Board. The election for these candidates will be Apr. 7.
There are 195 cookbooks still on sale in town if anyone is interested. You may purchase these cookbooks at most local businesses.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be on Sat., Apr. 11 in the Bourbon City Park at 12 noon.
The Awards Dinner will be held on Fri., Apr. 17 at the Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will be catered by the Hen House again this year. Tickets are $10 per person. These tickets will be available at Town & Country Bank, Style House, the Superintendent’s Office as well as Bremer’s Hardware.
Town & Country Bank was able to donate $479 to the Booster Club to assist with purchasing new Christmas decorations for the town. With this donation, the Booster Club was able to order 15 new decorations for the 2009 Christmas season.
The “Trash Bash” will be held this year on Sat., May 2 beginning at 8 a.m. and will run until 12 noon. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for participants. Teams will pick up trash on public properties. Reflective vests will be provided by the Bourbon Police Department. Prizes will be given to first and second place winners. The rain date for this event is May 9.
Becky Turner was present at the meeting to advise the recycling trailer will continue on. Becky and her husband, Mike, have been hauling the trailer to Rolla themselves. They feel that the community deserves to have a recycling trailer available, including the school district. Ocean Recycling will be able to assist with this hauling as soon as the economy begins to pick up.
Appreciation Day will be Sat., May 16 at the Town & Country Plaza. There will be a silent auction and a baby contest. If anyone is interested in volunteering help with the baby contest, please contact Charlene at the Style House, 573-732-5512.
