Sullivan firefighters arrived at 35105 Highway 185 on Tuesday evening, Feb. 3, to find a barn fully involved in fire after being dispatched by Washington County at 6:11 p.m.
“Our firefighters arrived on the scene of a barn owned by Lynn Clemens at 6:24 p.m. and found the barn fully engulfed in flames,” said Sullivan fire chief, Rich White. “Several round and square hay bales were lost along with a tractor and two lawn mowers.”
Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 6:57 p.m. and continued to extinguish the hay bales until 8:47 p.m.
Chuck’s Towing, Sullivan, brought in a skid steer loader to the scene and helped remove damaged hay bales to ensure the fire would not rekindle.
Bourbon fire assisted Sullivan with the barn fire. In all, 16 firefighters helped bring the fire under control.
“The fire was investigated by the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the cause of the fire is still undetermined,” concluded White.
